Services

Every kind of plaster, inside and out.

From a single patch that has to disappear to a full exterior re-stucco, each job gets the same care and the same trowel-trained eye.

Interior & Exterior Plaster

New plaster walls and ceilings, skim coats and exterior plaster applied with traditional technique and a clean, even finish.

Stucco Repair & Replacement

Cracks, holes and failing sections repaired, or full stucco replacement when the wall needs a fresh start.

Venetian, Marmorino & Italian Plasters

Polished Venetian, mineral Marmorino and traditional Italian lime plasters for walls with depth, movement and a soft sheen.

Historic Restoration

Respectful repair of older plaster and period detailing, so new work sits quietly alongside the original.

Rainscreen & Rot Repair

Addressing water damage and rot behind the wall, and installing rainscreen systems that help exterior walls drain and dry.

Texture Matching

Patches blended into existing textures, from smooth to sand-float, so the repair is hard to find.

How it works

A clear, careful process.

  1. Consult

We talk through the wall, the problem and the look you want, then look at the site and put together a quote.

  2. Prep

Furnishings and floors are protected, damaged material is removed, and the substrate is repaired and readied.

  3. Apply

Plaster or stucco goes on in the right coats, with time to cure between them. It's never rushed.

  4. Finish

Texture is matched or the finish is burnished, edges are detailed, and the site is cleaned up.

About Seamus

Trained in Ireland. Rooted in San Francisco.

Seamus McKenna learned plastering the traditional way, as an apprentice in Ireland, where the trade is passed hand to hand and a wall is judged by how it looks for decades, not days.

He brought that training to San Francisco in 2006, working on the city's houses with their lath-and-plaster interiors, stucco façades and period details. In 2014 he founded McKenna Plastering to do the work his own way: honest assessments, proper preparation and finishes he's proud to put his name on.

Today McKenna Plastering serves homeowners across San Francisco and the East Bay, from small repairs that need to blend in perfectly to full Venetian and Marmorino feature walls.
